Bucks 11 Plus Verbal, Non-Verbal & Spatial Reasoning, English & Maths Transfer Test

The Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools (TBGS) uses two 11 plus secondary transfer test papers for its selective grammar school admissions process. These are a combined GL Assessment English and verbal reasoning paper and a combined GL Assessment maths and non-verbal reasoning paper (which includes spatial reasoning). Visuteach sells 20 combined GL Assessment style English and verbal reasoning papers. These papers can be viewed online for a period of one year, but they cannot be downloaded or printed out. Each combined English and verbal reasoning paper has a total of 57 questions and should be completed in 50 minutes. There are 25 multiple-choice English questions (13 comprehension questions, 4 spelling questions, 4 punctuation questions and 4 cloze sentence completion questions) which should be completed in 25 minutes, and there are 32 multiple-choice verbal reasoning questions which should be completed in 25 minutes.
The English comprehension passages are taken from classics, humorous tales, adventure stories, historical non-fiction, girls’ school stories and boys’ school stories. The English questions cover comprehension, vocabulary (e.g. synonyms, words closest in meaning), identification of parts of speech (e.g. adverbs, adjectives, nouns, verbs, pronouns, prepositions) and identification of literary devices (e.g. simile, metaphor, hyperbole, oxymoron, onomatopoeia).

Visuteach also sells online interactive software membership packages containing GL Assessment style 11 plus verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and spatial reasoning tests.
